When hanging balloons work well

Hanging arrangements can frame the bed while keeping more floor space available. Discuss the attachment method, ribbon length and venue permission. The word “hanging” does not automatically specify how the balloons are suspended or whether gas is used, so clarify the method before agreeing to a particular look.

When floor balloons are useful

Floor balloons can add colour to a photograph taken from the doorway, but the room still needs to be usable. Keep them to the sides rather than across the bathroom entrance or door route. If you will use the room all evening, identify somewhere to move selected balloons after the reveal.

Combining both without crowding

When using both, choose one as the main feature and the other as support. If the overhead arrangement is prominent, keep the floor around the photo area simpler. Repeating colours ties the levels together, while adding more objects does not necessarily improve a furnished room.

Ask about the intended viewing time

Share the setup and reveal times rather than relying on an assumed balloon lifespan. Materials, inflation method and room conditions affect the appearance over time. Ask what arrangement suits your schedule, and avoid building the day around an unconfirmed expectation that every element will remain unchanged.

If the first view is from the doorway, discuss balloons that frame the bed rather than hide it. For close photographs on the bed, keep ribbons away from faces and the seating position. If you will spend the evening in the room, minimise elements that need moving immediately after pictures. Explain how you will use the space before choosing quantities: the same number of balloons can produce very different layouts.
